Fishing Vessel Insulation

Modern fishing vessels are, to a large extent, food processing and storage facilities which require specific and specialised conditions to function correctly. Where internal conditions can’t be kept as they should, both in storage and living facilities, the fishing boats can’t function as they should. Using EduFoam insulation to insulate fishing vessels will outperform virtually any other form of insulation on the market, allowing boat facilities to work at their most effective.

The Problems

Most fishing vessels in Northern Europe are operating in cold waters and often cold temperatures — sometimes down to -30 degrees celcius in the winter — and are constructed mainly from steel. As the steel is getting down to low temperatures, and the internal temperature and relative humidity in both the living and processing facilities will be relatively high, there is a high probability that condensation will occur even where other forms of insulation have been installed.

Also, where vessels require a cold storage facility, effective insulation is vital for the correct and efficient functioning of the areas.

The Solution

EduFoam insulation is a spray applied, closed-cell polyurethane foam which provides excellent thermal insulation values and high water vapour resistivity. The foam is applied as a liquid directly to virtually any surface, where it will seek and seal any gaps or voids and ‘cure’ to form a rigid layer of insulation which is adhered directly to the surface. This method of application leaves no gaps between the insulation and the surface, as well as no ‘cold spots’ in the insulation layer, meaning that condensation is completely prevented and the entire surface is covered with a highly efficient layer of insulation. Installing EduFoam insulation will not only prevent condensation within the vessel, it will also provide excellent insulation with minimal depth and enable heating and cooling to run as efficiently as possible.

Where Can EduFoam Insulation Be used?

Due to the unique method of installation, EduFoam insulation can be applied to many different surfaces in many different situations, including:

  • Fishing Boats
  • Trawlers
  • Commercial Passenger Boats
  • Cold Stores in Fishing Boats
  • Boat Holds
  • Steel Hulls
  • Partitions
  • Timber
  • Fibre Glass

And will provide high performance in these and nearly any other marine situation

More Information and Prices

For the majority of applications we recommend that you employ suitably trained, experienced and equipped contractors to carry out any spray insulation work. Using trained contractors provides peace of mind that the work is carried out correctly first time. If you would like us to recommend a contractor in your area, please feel free to contact us.

If you are looking to manufacture products or vessels where you think EduFoam could be used, we can provide everything you need to make the application a success, including; advice, information, machinery, training, materials and ongoing service and support.
